The event was organized by The department of information science and media studies at UiB in collaboration with Agenda Vestlandet. Agenda Vestlandet was established by Sparebanken Vest to drive the green transition in Vestlandet, and it supports research, innovation, and dialogue around regional challenges and opportunities.
The event was prepared and managed by MIX master students Anine Glenne Arnesen and Julie Teilstad Østby in collaboration with Joao Ribeiro, lead open innovation manager at GALP and a teacher at UiB, and professor Lars Nyre.
The day kicked off at 11:00 with João Costa Ribeiro leading icebreakers and pitch exercises to warm up the audience for the challenge of delivering a great pitch. He also introduced the jury: Precilia Isaksen, UX and service designer at Bouvet; Sofija Ivanova, service designer at Youwell and board member of IxDA Bergen; and Iselin Kornli, Partner and National Business Design Lead at These Ways, and Agile Coach and Change Leader at Equinor.
Then, bachelor students launched into presenting their project pitches at full speed. Our final year bachelor students have worked full-time on their web design projects since January. All the five projects were developed in close collaboration with real clients from the University of Bergen and the innovation sector in Bergen. The clients are the Media Cluster here in Media City Bergen, the new student Gründercampus in Bergen, the Division of Research and Innovation at the University of Bergen, the Department of Clinical Psyhology at UiB, and SLATE: The Centre for the Science of Learning and Technology also at UiB: Nova Luna Studio, praXis, UiB Idé, GründerCampus and Med I Klyngen.
After a delicious lunch and some time for mingling and networking, it was time for the Master Safari. Here, final-year master’s students presented their projects at stands while the jury moved through the crowd. The 12 projects represented over a year of dedicated work, with students choosing their own topics and research methods in dialogue with supervisors. Some worked in teams, others individually or in collaboration with industry partners, resulting in well-researched and practice-oriented prototypes.
The day concluded with a presentation of the book Handbook of Innovation, and the jury members announced the winners of this year’s MVP awards. The event was made possible with support from Agenda Vestlandet.
After an exciting round of pitches, discussions, and presentations, the jury announced the 2025 MVP award winners. MVP stands for “Minimum Viable Product”. This year's MVP awards recognizes projects that had particularly promising presentations of value creation, innovation and communication skills.
GründerCampus was awarded the MVP prize for its outstanding contribution to lowering the threshold for exploring ideas and turning dreams into reality.
